What information does ASD collect and retain?
ASD collects and retains different information from different groups.

Our employees provide us with information such as their name, contact information, work experience, references, social security number (SSN), and sometimes health information and background check information. Over the course of our employees’ employment, we will also obtain information about their salary, work appraisals, and attendance.

Our customers (and potential customers) provide us with information such as their name, contact information, electricity usage, SSN, medical conditions requiring continued electricity supply, credit history and/or payment history, and information necessary for billing and electricity monitoring. If customers access our website and do not disable ‘cookies’, we may receive information regarding site usage (without personal information attached).

Our suppliers and business partners may provide us with commercially sensitive or proprietary information.

Employee information is collected to ensure that ASD recruits and retains the best employee for the position and is able to compensate them appropriately and in line with all applicable regulations. Customer information is collected to ensure that we can contact our customers and offer them the right product for their needs and to ensure that our customers can meet their financial obligations to us.

We share information with our suppliers and employees who need to have access to the information. Examples of this include: contact and address information shared with installers, name, address, social security number and date of birth information shared with credit agencies, contracts deposited with off-site storage companies, and usage and contact information shared with our customer service providers.

Who is responsible for administering our Privacy Policy?

Why do we collect, and how do we use, your information?
We are committed to providing our employees, customers, suppliers and business partners with quality service. ASD collects the information required to run its business smoothly and efficiently, in a manner that meets the needs and preferences of its customers, employees, suppliers and business partners.

Employee information is collected to ensure that ASD recruits and retains the best employee for the position and is able to compensate the employee appropriately and in line with all applicable regulations. In addition, certain background and health information is collected to assist ASD in ensuring the safety of its employees and the public.

Customer information is collected to ensure that (a) we can contact our customers and offer them the right product for their needs and (b) our customers can meet their obligations to us and we can meet our obligations to our customers.

We share information with our suppliers and employees who need to have access to the information or who offer us storage facilities. Examples of this sharing includes: contact, electricity and roof information is shared with installers; name, contact information, social security number and date of birth information is shared with credit agencies; contracts are deposited with off-site storage companies; technologically coded information may be deposited with off-site IT storage companies; and usage, billing and contact information is shared with our customer service providers.

How do we your obtain consent?
Before collecting your information from third parties (except where necessary for legal purposes), we ask for your consent. When we collect information directly from you, you impliedly consent to our use of the information for business purposes. In the case of some information, if you refuse consent, we may be unable to supply/hire/retain you. You may withdraw your consent to our use of your personal information unless you have already provided it and we require it to meet our agreement with you or we require it to ensure you meet your agreement with us.

We do not attempt to, nor knowingly, obtain information from minors.

How long do we retain your personal information?
We retain your personal information for as long as is required to fulfill the purposes for which we collected it, and to meet all of our legal and regulatory requirements. Once your personal information is no longer required, we take measures to destroy, erase, or anonymize it in a manner that maintains your privacy.

ASD takes appropriate measures to safeguard your personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, modification or misuse, including passwords, firewalls, restricted access to offices and use of shredders and secure off-site storage.
